Working in Switzerland, living abroad – and properly insured.
Anyone who works in Switzerland and lives in Germany, France, Italy or Austria has to make a health insurance choice with long-lasting effects. We explain it to you calmly, work through both routes and handle the registration – independently, in your language and free of charge for you.
What the calculator shows you
The calculator compares the premiums of Swiss basic insurance using the federal government's official figures. It gives you a feel for what the Swiss route costs. Your personal premium as a cross-border commuter and the comparison with your country of residence are then something we work through together with you.
The right of option – your choice of health insurance
In health insurance, cross-border commuters have a choice that hardly exists anywhere else: the so-called “right of option”. Within three months of starting work in Switzerland, you can decide whether to insure yourself under the Swiss Health Insurance Act (KVG) or in your country of residence.
This choice is no small matter. In principle it applies for the entire time you are working in Switzerland. And those who do nothing still decide: without an application, cross-border commuters are assigned to Swiss basic insurance.
Exactly how the deadline runs in your case, which proofs your country of residence requires and what applies to your family depends on your situation. We check the deadlines with you case by case, before you sign anything.
This page sets out the essentials and does not replace an assessment of your individual case. What counts are the statutory provisions and the information given by the competent authorities.
This is what we clarify with you
Before you commit, we go through your situation point by point.
- In welchem Land Sie wohnen, wo Sie arbeiten und was in Ihrem Arbeitsvertrag steht
What you get out of it
