Advice with integrity — working at VFR

We are an independent Swiss broker with around twenty employees at five locations. Whoever works with us looks after their own clients rather than tickets and decides in those clients' interest — even when the answer is sometimes “you don't need that”. We train apprentices, welcome interns from WMS and HMS schools and provide supported workplaces. From day one, new starters work with real clients and real files, with someone alongside them.

You'll find our open positions below. If none of them fit, write to us anyway: we hire good people even without a vacancy.

Apprenticeships at VFR

We train people in our own business: commercially, digitally and close to our clients.

That does not mean photocopying, coffee and filing. From their first year, VFR apprentices handle their own tasks, speak with clients, work in our systems and take on more responsibility each semester. As an insurance broker, fiduciary and IT and marketing service provider, we offer more varied working experience in three years than many large businesses.

Every apprentice has a designated trainer and a mentor from the team for questions they would rather not ask the boss. School days, intercompany courses and exam preparation count as working time. We provide paid study days before the qualification procedure.

Designated trainers · Apprentice mentoring · Continued employment after graduation is our aim

Contact HR directly for current apprenticeships and their requirements. Ask HR about apprenticeships

For apprenticeship enquiries, contact Enes Malik Bayoglu, +41 58 200 29 28. Nitharsana Velauthapillai (HR team leader) welcomes your application with a CV and your two latest school reports. A cover letter is not required. You may include a Multicheck or Basic-Check result, but it is optional.

Internships at VFR — WMS, HMS, IMS and starting your career

Each year, we welcome interns from business and commercial schools, with a full internship contract and a team that takes its training responsibilities seriously.

An in-company internship helps determine whether a student earns a Swiss Federal VET Diploma (EFZ). We treat it accordingly. Interns have their own workstation, a defined area of responsibility and a fixed contact person. We plan the school’s requirements — learning objectives, learning documentation, ALS and PE assessments — with you throughout the placement instead of rushing them at the end.

We follow the internship models of WMS, HMS and IMS schools. We also welcome internships after vocational baccalaureate studies, gap-year placements before university, and university and marketing internships. Those who do well receive a detailed employment reference and, in many cases, a job offer.

Full internship contract · Fixed contact person · Support with learning documentation, ALS and PE · Detailed employment reference

We discuss available internships, start dates and conditions with you personally.

Supported workplaces and vocational integration

We provide supported workplaces and work with disability insurance offices, job coaches and vocational integration organisations.

Not everyone’s capacity for work fits a full-time role, and returning to employment does not always start with a standard vacancy. We therefore offer workplaces that adapt to the person: reduced hours, a quiet environment, clearly defined tasks and a pace agreed together.

Our fields of work are particularly suitable for this. Digitising client files, entering data, handling mail, basic bookkeeping and maintaining content can be divided into manageable, recurring tasks, with a visible result at the end of the day. People who can and want to take on more gradually move into more demanding work.

With around twenty employees, we are small enough for everyone to be noticed and large enough to offer real work. We always agree the working hours, duration, support and objectives with the referring organisation and the person concerned.

What we offer

Long-term supported workplaces

Jobs with adapted hours and requirements, designed for continuity.

Assessment and development

Temporary placements to assess and develop capacity for work. We agree the details with the referring organisation.

Niche and training workplaces

Clearly defined tasks in back-office work, file management and digitisation, supporting a gradual return to employment.

Support and job coaching

We work with external job coaches, provide a named internal contact and take part in progress meetings.

Possible areas of work

  • Digitising and archiving client files: scanning, indexing and quality checks
  • Data entry and maintenance
  • Handling incoming and outgoing mail, mail merges and enveloping
  • Switchboard and basic reception duties
  • Preparatory bookkeeping: entering, sorting and filing supporting documents
  • Checking deadline lists and follow-ups
  • Maintaining website and newsletter content
  • Basic design and image editing
  • Organising office supplies and the workplace

What we provide

  • A fixed, named contact within the company
  • A written description of duties
  • Agreed working hours and a suitable daily structure
  • A quiet, fixed workplace; working from home where the task allows
  • An introduction to data protection and confidentiality
  • Regular progress meetings with the referring organisation
  • Inclusion in the team: the same breaks, events and treatment
